Latest Motor Vehicle Sales Data The trend estimate for sales of total new motor vehicles rose by 0.1% to 77,590 in February 2004 compared with January 2004. This increase follows a five month period of decline in the trend estimate for new motor vehicle sales. The trend estimate for sales of passenger vehicles has declined over the last six months, while the trend estimate for the sales of other vehicles has increased over the same period. Sales of total new motor vehicles recorded growth in the trend estimate of 6.5% for February 2004 compared with February 2003. The trend estimate for sales of passenger vehicles increased by 1.9% and for other vehicles increased by 14.9% over the same period. The seasonally adjusted estimate for sales of total new motor vehicles for February 2004 increased by 1.0% compared with January 2004 and by 11.3% compared with February 2003. The seasonally adjusted estimate for sales of passenger vehicles increased by 2.1% in February 2004 compared with January 2004. The seasonally adjusted estimate for sales of other vehicles decreased by 0.8% over the same period.
