CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE

The ABS has made a number of changes in this issue, described below. The ABS is grateful for the user feedback received to date and will continue to actively seek stakeholder input.


CHANGES TO DATACUBES

Six data cubes (separated by theme) replace the single data cube presented in 2017 and content has been consolidated in some areas:

  • Detailed water supply, consumption, expenditure, price data, and state breakdowns are no longer presented but can be found in Water Account, Australia, 2015-16 (cat. no. 4610.0).
  • Physical and monetary use of electricity, by industry and by households, current prices has been discontinued. This information still can be found in Energy Account, Australia, 2015-16 (cat. no. 4604.0).
  • Detailed waste accounts are not presented as no updates to the series are available, however national data (up to 2014-15) is included in Table 1.
  • Experimental supply and use estimates of environmental services have been removed pending revisions to methodology.


EXTENDED DATA SERIES

The time series for direct greenhouse gas emissions has been extended back to include the years 2004-05 to 2006-07.


CHANGES TO ENERGY DATA

Changes introduced to the Energy Account in 2015-16 have also been incorporated into energy estimates presented in this issue. More information is available in Energy Account, Australia, 2015-16 (cat. no. 4604.0).


CHANGES TO ENVIRONMENTAL TAXES

Improvements were made to the calculation of environmental taxes. For a breakdown of the methodology used this year please refer to explanatory notes.
