Insurance status

During 2008-09, 88% of patient separations from Acute and psychiatric hospitals carried hospital insurance. This proportion was 5 percentage points higher than in 2006-07. There were almost 2.3m separations for insured patients in 2008-09, compared to approximately 300,000 non insured patients.
