Cottesloe records WA's highest income Cottesloe residents recorded the highest average income in Western Australia in 2009-10, according to figures releases today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). ABS Director of the Rural and Regional National Statistics Centre, Lisa Conolly said the Estimates of Personal Income for Small Areas publication uses data from the Australian Taxation Office to provide a breakdown of information such as personal income by wage and salary, investment, superannuation and annuities. “The average total income for Cottesloe was $113,892, with the beach-side suburb being the only region outside of New South Wales and Victoria to have an average total income exceeding $110,000 “The next highest income earners in Perth were Nedlands - Dalkeith - Crawley on $106,981, City Beach $102,971 and Mosman Park - Peppermint Grove on $99,609, with all three regions recording incomes more than double the national average of $48,530. "Outside of Perth, the regions recording the highest average total income levels were the Pilbara mining areas of Karratha on $79,925, Port Hedland on $78,584, Roebourne on $75,316 and Ashburton on $73,645. “Overall, the average total income for the state of Western Australia is $53,397 which is higher than the national average of $48,530. “Australia’s highest earners are those in the Melbourne suburb of Toorak who earn an average of $132,252 per year. “Over 31 per cent of all regions in Western Australia had annual average total incomes above the state level of $53,397. “Nationally, Western Australian had the second highest average income level, only behind the Australian Capital Territory which had an average total income of $58,034”, said Ms Conolly.
