ABS construction industry survey receiving good response The Australian Bureau of Statistics' first detailed examination of the construction industry in nearly a decade is receiving good cooperation from respondents according to the Bureau. Early responses to the Economic Activity Survey, which was despatched recently, have been very encouraging with many businesses already returning their completed forms. Further survey forms will be despatched to more businesses and self-employed construction and trade services workers early in 1998. Through their participation in the survey, builders and the construction trade services industry workers are being asked to contribute to better national information about:
The results from this national survey, which involves about 20,000 businesses and individuals in the industry, will assist future business decisions by providing key planning information. The survey results will enable individual businesses to assess their performance against both industry averages and best practice statistics. ABS said the businesses in the construction sector, industry and trade associations, governments and other interest groups would be the main users of the data. Preliminary results from the survey are expected to be published around the middle of next year.
