MONTHLY SEASONALLY ADJUSTED AND TREND ESTIMATES


NEW SOUTH WALES

After four months of strong trend growth, there was moderate growth in November 2007. Recreational good retailing (five months) and Other retailing (eight months) have had strong trend growth. Food retailing has had two months of moderate growth after three months of strong growth and Household good retailing has had one month of moderate growth after four months of strong growth.

VICTORIA

There have been six months of moderate trend growth. Clothing and soft good retailing (17 months), Recreational good retailing (four months), Other retailing (five months) and Hospitality and services (three months) have had strong trend growth.

QUEENSLAND

After nine months of strong trend growth, Queensland has had two months of moderate growth. Recreational good retailing (five months) and Other retailing (nine months) have had strong trend growth, while Clothing and soft good retailing has been in decline for five months. After 15 months of strong trend growth, Food retailing had moderate trend growth in November 2007.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

After three months of strong growth, there was moderate trend growth in November 2007. Food retailing, Department stores, Other retailing and Hospitality and services have had at least six months of moderate or strong growth.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

There has been moderate trend growth for five months. Clothing and soft good retailing (five months) and Recreational good retailing (six months) have had strong growth. Food retailing, Department stores, Household good retailing and Hospitality and services had weak trend growth in November 2007.

TASMANIA

The trend has slowed from strong growth in June 2007 to being in decline in November 2007. Recreational good retailing has had a decline in the trend estimate for each of the last five months. Food Retailing (one month) and Household good retailing (four months) have had weak growth, while Clothing and soft good retailing has had three months of strong growth.
