CHANGES TO EXPORT AND IMPORT STATISTICAL CODES

Statistical codes in the Australian Harmonized Export Commodity Classification (AHECC) and the Customs Tariff will be revised from 1 January 2010. These new codes are included for monitoring of ozone deleting substances. The changes will not impact directly on the presentation of statistics in this publication but will impact on detailed import and export statistics provided via ABS Client Services.


An update of the Australian Harmonized Export Commodity Classification (AHECC) - Electronic Publication, Jan 2007 (cat. no. 1233.0) is released concurrently with this issue. This update includes correspondences between the existing codes and updated versions of the AHECC. Information relating to the update of Customs Tariffs can be accessed via the Customs website <http://www.customs.gov.au>. Details are available in the Australian Customs Notice 49.
