RIS/WIS margins alignment

Data from the Retail industry survey and the Wholesale industry survey has been used to improve the alignment of the Retail and Wholesale margins to IOPC codes in all of the 2007-08 releases.


Changes to Table 8

For the Final release, Table 8. Industry by Industry Flow Table (Indirect allocation of Imports), now bases the allocation of row coefficients on Total supply, not Australian production. This is due to the identification of the exclusion of Imports when deriving industry by industry flow information in the tables from 2001-02. This is a quality improvement in the tables and will result in table 8 reflecting a more accurate depiction of the industry flows and input structures for the 2007-08 reference year.


Changes in Retail margin allocations

Changes were applied to the process of allocating retail margin to products for the Final 2007-08 release. This has resulted in retail margin being more appropriately distributed to some products.


Additions to Table 40

Table 40 of the Final release for 2007-08: Industry and Product Concordances now includes an additional concordance between IOPC and the CPI (Consumer Price Index) classification, version 16.


Rail and Air and Space Transport products

Products for Rail and Air and Space Transport have been re-balanced for the Final 2007-08 release to improve the disposition of subsidies and use categories.


Revised IOPC descriptors

A number of IOPC descriptor titles were revised all of the 2007-08 releases in order to better reflect the nature of some products. There has been no change made to the definition of the product, or to the IOPC code, only to the description of what the product included. The changed descriptors are listed below.
