CHANGES IN FORTHCOMING ISSUES
CHANGES TO STATISTICS PRESENTED ON A COUNTRY BASIS
From the October 2012 issue, there will be changes to the ABS trade country classification which will impact on time series spreadsheets. The changes result from the recognition of new countries by the United Nations and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the recognition of Serbia as a Developing Country in Schedule 1 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995.
Introduction of new countries
Two new countries 'South Sudan' and 'Sudan' will be added to the time series tables containing all countries. These changes will be applied from the October 2012 issue.
The country previously known as Sudan will have its label amended to 'Former Sudan' and will cease from the October 2012 reference month.
New series identifiers for time series spreadsheets Table 2 and Data Cubes 8 and 9 will be included in the October 2012 issue of this publication.
Changes will also be made to the ABS trade overseas port classification for the new countries, however, there will be no changes to publication tables or time series spreadsheets. Port data are available via tailored user pays consultancies.
Serbia recognised as a developing country
From October 2012 Serbia will be included in the series for Developing Countries published in Table 2 of this publication. This will apply to the whole time series.
