ANALYSIS - TOTAL RETAIL TOTAL RETAIL - QUARTERLY In volume terms, the seasonally adjusted estimate for the June quarter 2016 rose 0.4% following a rise of 0.5% in the March quarter 2016 and a rise of 0.5% in the December quarter 2015. In the June quarter 2016, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms for Other retailing (1.9%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (1.3%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (1.6%) and Department stores (0.4%). The seasonally adjusted estimate fell in volume terms for Household goods retailing (-0.5%) and Food retailing (-0.1%) in the June quarter 2016. The Implicit Price Deflator for Australian turnover rose 0.2% in seasonally adjusted terms in the June quarter 2016. TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE The following states and territories rose in trend terms in June 2016: New South Wales (0.3%), Victoria (0.2%), South Australia (0.3%), Western Australia (0.1%) and Tasmania (0.3%). Queensland (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. The Northern Territory (-0.4%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in June 2016. The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in June 2016: Queensland (1.1%) and Western Australia (0.1%). South Australia (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. New South Wales (-0.2%), Victoria (-0.1%), the Australian Capital Territory (-0.6%), the Northern Territory (-1.1%) and Tasmania (-0.2%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in June 2016. In the June quarter 2016, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms in the following states: New South Wales (0.7%), Victoria (0.6%), South Australia (1.0%), Western Australia (0.5%) and Tasmania (0.8%). Queensland (-0.4%), the Northern Territory (-1.1%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.2%) fell in volume terms in the June quarter 2016.
