This publication provides a critical overview of the National Early Childhood Education and Care Collection, including scope and coverage, key concepts and definitions, data quality, availability of data and background and governance information. In doing so, it highlights the differences in service delivery and data collection methods conducted across Australia. Concepts, Sources and Methods is reviewed annually to ensure the publication is accurate, user-friendly and fit for purpose. This publication helps users to understand the caveats around the use of Early Childhood and Care Collection data for different purposes, particularly in being transparent about the quality of data published and data processing rules.
