SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during March 2014 (564,200 movements) increased 0.5% compared with February 2014 (561,600 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.8% in January 2014 and 0.6% in February 2014. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 9.8% higher than in March 2013.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During March 2014, short-term visitor arrivals (561,200 movements) decreased 0.1% compared with February 2014 (561,900 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 2.2% in January 2014 and a monthly increase of 0.2% in February 2014.
  • Original estimates: There were 595,900 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in March 2014.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during March 2014 (730,400 movements) decreased 0.7% compared with February 2014 (735,400 movements). This followed monthly decreases of 0.3% in January 2014 and 0.5% in February 2014. The current trend estimate for departures is 2.6% higher than in March 2013.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During March 2014, short-term resident departures (709,600 movements) decreased 3.7% compared with February 2014 (736,700 movements). This followed monthly decreases of 1.7% in January 2014 and 1.4% in February 2014.
  • Original estimates: There were 636,200 short-term resident departures from Australia in March 2014.
