UNEMPLOYED PERSONS TREND ESTIMATES MALES LOOKING FOR FULL-TIME WORK The trend estimate of males looking for full-time work generally decreased from 396,200 in December 1996 to 288,000 in June 2000. The trend then rose to 329,800 in October 2001, before generally falling to 220,900 in May 2005. The trend estimate rose to 236,700 in December 2005, before falling to stand at 208,100 in December 2006. MALES LOOKING FOR PART-TIME WORK The trend estimate of unemployed males looking for part-time work was relatively stable between December 1996 (52,800) and November 2000 (52,900). After rising to 66,300 in July 2001, the trend fell to 55,900 in November 2003. Apart from some fluctuations in 2004, the trend then increased to 65,100 in January 2006. The trend has generally fallen over the last twelve months to stand at 55,300 in December 2006. UNEMPLOYED FEMALES TOTAL The trend estimate of unemployed females fell from 320,300 in December 1996 to 240,000 in September 2000, before rising to 292,000 in November 2001. Since then, the trend estimate has generally fallen to stand at 234,600 in December 2006. FEMALES LOOKING FOR FULL-TIME WORK The trend estimate of females looking for full-time work fell from 222,200 in December 1996 to 152,800 in September 2000. The trend estimate then rose to 188,900 in October 2001, before generally falling to stand at 148,500 in December 2006. FEMALES LOOKING FOR PART-TIME WORK The trend estimate of unemployed females looking for part-time work has fluctuated over the last 10 years, from 98,100 in December 1996 to a high of 110,200 in April 2001.
