- The total number of dwelling units commenced rose 0.7% in the December quarter 2007, to 41,073.
- New private sector house commencements rose 3.9%, to 28,199. Commencements rose in states and territories other than South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
- New private sector other residential building fell 4.8%, to 11,467. This follows a revised increase of 15.4%, to 12,046 in the September quarter.
- The total number of public sector dwellings commenced fell 27.7%, to 901. Commencements fell in states and territories other than Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
