Apprenticeships Collection
OVERVIEW
The Apprenticeships Collection contains information on all persons employed under a training contract and includes both apprentices and trainees.
The State Training Authority in each State and Territory is responsible for both the administration of training agreements and the collection of apprentice and trainee data. Data are provided to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER).
Data are reported quarterly and consolidated annually.
SCOPE
The Apprenticeships Collection is compiled under the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information and Statistical Standard.
It is designed to apply to information collected for all persons employed under a training contract and includes both apprentices and trainees.
Where the administration of training contacts has been outsourced to other organisations, the State Training Authority remains the organisation responsible for the provision of apprentice and trainee data to the NCVER.

- Country of birth
- Main language spoken at home
The Apprenticeships Collection collects a range of data items including:
- Apprentice and trainee characteristics (e.g. age, sex, Indigenous status, disability status, region, prior education, highest school level completed, year highest school level completed and whether attending school)
- Employer and training characteristics (e.g. employer name, type of employer)
- Contract history (e.g. commencement, withdrawal and completion dates)

AVAILABILITY OF DATA AND PUBLICATIONS
Quarterly statistical summary reports and tables using data from the Apprenticeships Collection are available in March, June, September and December each year. Statistical summary reports together with other research, tables and reports can be downloaded free of charge from the 'Publications' page of the
National Centre for Vocational Education Research we
bsite.
