SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STATISTICAL NEWS AND RELEASES
This product contains estimates of the resident populations of areas of Australia as at 30 June in each year from 2001 to 2008. The areas for which estimates are provided are Local Government Areas (LGAs), Statistical Local Areas, Statistical Divisions, Statistical Subdivisions, Statistical Districts and states and territories of Australia, according to the 2008 edition of the Australian Standard Geographical Classification. South Australian findings include:
Australian Industry, 2007-08 presents estimates derived using a combination of data from the Economic Activity Survey and business tax data sourced from the Australian Tax Office. For most industry divisions and subdivisions (as specified in the Australian and New Zealand Industrial Classification (ANZSIC), 2006 edition), the publication provides national level estimates of: income; expenses; industry value added; operating profit before tax; capital expenditure; and selected components of these aggregates and derivations. State/territory estimates of income, employment, and wages and salaries, at the division level are also included. In South Australia Manufacturing was the predominant industry when measured by share of employment. This differed from all other states and territories where retail trade was the predominant industry, with the exception of the Australian Capital Territory. Manufacturing was also the largest industry in terms of wages and salaries and share of sales and services income in South Australia.SA Stats (cat. no. 1345.4) SA Stats provides an overview of the SA population and economy. This publication is updated on a monthly basis, with most releases also featuring an article that provides a SA focus on economic, social and environmental issues. There is no feature article in this month's issue. SA Stats, April 2009 This month's SA Stats includes a new article on housing finance in South Australia. The article uses data from Housing Finance, Australia (cat. no 5609.0) to compare South Australian borrowings by first home buyers and non-first home buyers purchasing housing. The feature article examines data on journey to work in the City of Adelaide. The article uses data from the Census to compare methods of travel to work used by South Australian employees who work in the City of Adelaide. Non ABS Releases The geography of disability and economic disadvantage in Australian capital cities , Australian Institute of Health and Welfare cat. no. DIS 54. This report presents data on the geographical distribution of severe disability among people aged less than 65 years living in Australian capital cities, based on analysis of the 2006 Census of Population and Housing.
