Snapshot complete: Full range of 2001 Census data released The release today of the full range of 2001 Census data for every community in Australia by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) now completes the snapshot of what the nation looked like on census night. Today's release of Basic Community Profiles, Census Snapshots and Indigenous Profiles includes data on educational qualifications, labour force, industry, occupation, method of travel to work and selected averages. This is in addition to social, housing and income data released in June. The Head of the Census program at the ABS, Paul Williams, said the census was all about providing high quality data to help decision makers in government, business and the community plan for a better future. "The major point of interest from the data released today is that it provides a picture of the economic life of every community in Australia, including educational levels and field of study, participation in the labour force and industries and occupations of employment". "Australians will be able to access information for every Statistical Local Area (SLA) in Australia on this web site. Mr Williams paid tribute to the community for its support of the census. "I thank all Australians for their help in completing the national snapshot. Their excellent level of cooperation, coupled with successful field operations and processing, means that the Australian census will continue to be regarded as one of the best in the world and a great investment in Australia's future," he said.
