The scope of the collection excludes:

• motorcycles
• plant and equipment
• unpowered vehicles

Statistics to assist users to analyse characteristics of motorcycles, plant and equipment and unpowered vehicles are available from the Motor Vehicle Census. The Motor Vehicle Census is conducted by the ABS using administrative data from state and territory motor vehicle registries. A snapshot from each state and territory registry is obtained at 31 March of each reference year. However, motor cycles represent only 5% of vehicles and are not critical as input to macro-economic models such as the Australian National Accounts.
