Rebasing: Using 2006 Census Data to Compile Estimates
Our Population Estimates and Projections team has been very busy with rebasing population estimates from the new 2006 Census results.
Rebasing refers to the process by which the ABS uses the most recent population Census results, to revise all population estimates for the previous intercensal period. The preliminary rebased figures for the estimated resident population can be found in the recently released Australian Demographic Statistics, December quarter 2006(cat. no. 3101.0).
