Main Features Building Approvals Dwelling Units Approved, State Trends About this Release History of Changes Dwelling approvals continue to fall in January (Media Release)	BUILDING APPROVALS NUMBER OF DWELLING UNITS The trend estimate for Australia fell 2.1% in January. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate rose 1.8% to 17,412 dwellings. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector houses approved fell 1.2% in January. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate fell 3.0% to 8,840 houses. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR DWELLINGS EXCLUDING HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector dwelling units excluding houses fell 2.9% in January. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate rose 6.2% to 8,349 dwellings. VALUE OF NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of new residential building approved fell 1.1% in January and has fallen for seven months. VALUE OF ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS TO RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of alterations and additions to residential building rose 1.0% in January and has risen for five months. VALUE OF NON-RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of non-residential building approved fell 6.8% in January and has fallen for five months.
