BUILDING APPROVALS AUSTRALIA The trend estimate for Australia fell 0.1% in May. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate rose 2.4% to 19,414 dwellings. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector houses approved rose 0.1% in May. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate fell 8.4% to 9,265 houses. NUMBER OF PRIVATE SECTOR DWELLINGS EXCLUDING HOUSES The trend estimate for private sector dwelling units excluding houses was flat in May. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate rose 16.6% to 9,954 dwellings. VALUE OF NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of new residential building approved fell 0.1% in May after rising for nine months. VALUE OF ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS TO RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of alterations and additions to residential building rose 2.2% in May and has risen for six months. VALUE OF NON-RESIDENTIAL BUILDING The trend estimate for the value of non-residential building approved fell 3.4% in May and has fallen for five months.
