The trend estimate fell to 279,300 in June 2005, before rising to 293,400 in December 2005. Since then, the trend has fallen to stand at 234,300 in June 2007.

MALES LOOKING FOR FULL-TIME WORK

The trend estimate of males looking for full-time work generally decreased from 396,400 in June 1997 to 287,700 in July 2000. The trend then rose to 327,600 in October 2001, before generally falling to 221,800 in June 2005. The trend estimate rose to 231,000 in December 2005, before falling to stand at 184,500 in June 2007.

MALES LOOKING FOR PART-TIME WORK

The trend estimate of unemployed males looking for part-time work rose from 52,000 in June 1997 to 65,600 in July 2001. Since then, apart from some fluctuations, the trend has generally fallen to stand at 49,900 in June 2007.

The trend estimate of unemployed females fell from 313,200 in June 1997 to 239,700 in September 2000, before rising to 289,700 in October 2001. Since then, the trend estimate has generally fallen to stand at 234,100 in June 2007.

FEMALES LOOKING FOR FULL-TIME WORK

The trend estimate of females looking for full-time work fell from 220,100 in June 1997 to 152,600 in September 2000. The trend estimate then rose to 187,500 in October 2001, before generally falling to stand at 141,500 in June 2007.

FEMALES LOOKING FOR PART-TIME WORK

The trend estimate of unemployed females looking for part-time work has fluctuated over the last 10 years, from 93,100 in June 1997 to a high of 109,300 in April 2001. The trend estimate now stands at 92,600 in June 2007.
