Amaroo population up over 5% The Statistical Local Area of Amaroo in the Australian Capital Territory had one of the largest increases in population from 2007-08 to 2008-09, increasing by 604 to 6,984, an increase of 5.6%, according to the latest National Regional Profiles, released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). National Regional Profiles use a Google Maps based interface to make it easier to find information on Local Government Areas and other types of regions across Australia. The regional profiles now include information not in previous releases, including tourist accommodation and additional government payments. This adds to the existing economic and social data such as income, age, occupations, building and agriculture. ACT highlights in today's release include: The number of people receiving Family Tax Benefits in Amaroo increased by 12.8% in this period, to 839. In 2008-09 the Statistical Local Area of O'Malley had one of the highest average values of private sector houses at $549,100. This compares to the ACT average of $220,000.
