NEW SOUTH WALES

  • In 2015-16, the ten SA2s with the largest population increases in New South Wales were all within Greater Sydney. The outer south-west SA2 of Cobbitty - Leppington had the largest growth, increasing by 3,300 to reach 15,500 people. Large growth also occurred in Riverstone - Marsden Park (3,100) in north-west Sydney, and the inner-city SA2 of Waterloo - Beaconsfield (2,400).
  • Greater Sydney also contained nine of the ten fastest-growing SA2s in New South Wales. Cobbitty - Leppington was the fastest growing SA2 (28%). This was followed by Riverstone - Marsden Park (24%), Homebush Bay - Silverwater (12%), Waterloo - Beaconsfield and Mascot - Eastlakes (both 7.9%).
  • Of the SA2s outside of Greater Sydney, those with the largest growth were Kingscliff - Fingal Head (680 people) on the far north coast near Tweed Heads, Wollongong (660), Shellharbour - Flinders (590) in the Illawarra region and Maitland - West (550) in the Hunter Valley. The SA2s with the fastest growth were Kingscliff - Fingal Head (5.4%), Wagga Wagga - North (5.1%) and Shellharbour - Flinders (3.7%).
