The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) will publish a feature article on Australia's exporters and importers in this Friday's (16/8/02) release of International Merchandise Trade, Australia - June Quarter 2002 (cat. no. 5422.0).

For the first time, Australian Business Numbers (ABN) on Customs export and import entries have been used to produce experimental statistics on the number of Australia's exporters and importers, their industry composition, and the size of their trading activities. The figures are for the period July to December 2001.
