This information paper presents part of the Review of the Australian Producer and International Trade Price Indexes undertaken by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Services industry price index measurement and retail trade margins were identified as a key priority. This paper outlines previous work done by the ABS and introduces the new methodology for the experimental Producer Price Indexes for the Output of the Retail Trade Industry.
