New motor vechicles sales holding steady: ABS Trend figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that there has been a gradual decline in the rate of growth in total new motor vehicle sales since October 2001, with figures for April 2002 indicating zero growth when compared with the previous month. New passenger vehicle sales fell by 0.4% while other vehicle sales rose by 0.7%. Seasonally adjusted sales of total new motor vehicles rose by 8.1% in April 2002 with rises in passenger vehicles of 6.8% and other vehicles of 10.7%. Rises occurred in all States and Territories.
