Broad Description
This publication presents information about the labour force status and other characteristics of persons who migrated to Australia as adults after 1970.

Purpose of Data
The information collected enables an assessment of the labour market experience of migrants.

Detailed Description
Population
Data from the survey relates to persons who were not born in Australia, had arrived in Australia after 1970, were aged 18 years and over on arrival and had obtained permanent resident status.
Superannuation Data Items
Number of migrants who reported that superannuation is their main source of income is available.

Source
This survey is conducted by the ABS as a supplement to the monthly Labour Force survey.

Method of Collection
The Labour Force survey is dwelling based and covers about three-fifths of one percent of the Australian population.

Frequency
Triennially.

Timeliness
Data becomes available six months after the reference period.

Historical Data
Data are available for the years 1990, 1993 and 1996.

Geographic Breakdown
Standard labour force dissemination regions are available.

Confidentiality and Availability
Data are not available where a significant level of relative standard error exists or where data are confidential.
