BUSINESS STRUCTURE AND ARRANGEMENTS
Overall, 9% of businesses had some type of collaborative arrangement during the year ended 30 June 2014. The most common type of collaborative arrangement was joint marketing or distribution (4%), followed by joint production of goods or services and joint research and development (both 3%). Businesses with 200 or more persons employed were more than three times as likely to have a collaborative arrangement than businesses with 0-4 persons employed (29% compared to 8%). Businesses in the Information media and telecommunications industry were most likely to be involved in any type of collaborative arrangement (20%). Businesses in the Professional, scientific and technical services industry were most likely to be involved with joint research and development (8%), while businesses in Rental, hiring and real estate services were most likely to report joint marketing or distribution (10%). Innovation-active businesses (15%) were almost four times more likely to be involved in any collaborative arrangements than non innovation-active businesses (4%).
