Hours worked
The majority of those employed in cultural industries for their main job in 2011, (60.0% or 214,723 persons) worked full-time in the week prior to the Census (35 hours or more per week in all jobs). About 20.0% (71,493) reported that they worked 16 to 34 hours per week, and 15.7% (56,104) worked between 1 and 15 hours. (Table 14)
Approximately 80.8% of those employed in the Internet Publishing and Broadcasting industry worked 35 hours or more in the week prior to the 2011 Census. The majority of persons working in the Arts Education (29.7%), Creative Artists, Musicians, Writers and Performers (28.2%) and Motion Picture Exhibition (28.0%) industries were part-time workers working between 16 and 34 hours in the week before the Census. Some 15.7% of those employed in cultural industries worked between 1 and 15 hours per week compared with 10.8% of all employed persons. (Table 14)
