Bananas dominate the plantation fruit industry in NSW. Nearly all are grown in the Mid-North Coast and Richmond-Tweed Statistical Divsions.

In 2000-01, farmers produced 44,000 tonnes of bananas, behind the largest producing state, Queensland with 302,000 tonnes.
