Natural increase is the difference between births and deaths. For the year ended December 2005, natural increase was 2,416 persons, an increase of 577 on the number recorded in the year ended December 2004 (1,839). In the year ended December 2005, births added 6,262 babies while deaths decreased the population by 3,846.
