DESCRIPTION
This survey provides information on the characteristics of families and family members, and the nature of family support. The structure and needs of the family are identified to enable an understanding of specific types of support relating to employment, income, housing, child care, personal care/home help, education and transport.
SCOPE
All persons except certain diplomatic personnel of overseas governments, members of non-Australian defence forces (and their dependants) stationed in Australia and overseas residents visiting Australia. The sample includes private dwellings and selected non-private dwellings (such as hotels, motels, hospitals, residential colleges, nursing homes and prisons). The survey is conducted in both urban and rural areas in all States and Territories.
