Statistics on migration are compiled from records held by the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.
Statistics from this collection are published in Migration Australia (cat. no. 3412.0). This publication presents information on international and internal migration by State and Territory. It includes permanent and long-term movements by State and Territory of usual residence, country of birth and occupation and provides details of the birthplace of the estimated resident population. Each edition usually contains a feature chapter focusing on a migration issue.
SCOPE
All permanent movements and all movements with a duration of stay of one year or more.
