Purpose
To summarise statistics on the structure of the small business sector in Australia.
Description
Small Business Australia (cat. no. 1321.0) draws together information from various sources of data, such as Business Growth and Performance Survey and Characteristics of Small Business Owners, on the small business sector. Data from the publication is of use to analysts who measure the performance of small businesses relative to other businesses of similar size in their industry and/or their industry's performance relative to other industries.
In the 1995 issue, small businesses (excluding agriculture) are defined as:
non-manufacturing industries employing fewer than 20 employees; and
manufacturing industries employing fewer than 100 employees.
