A Basic Confidentialised Unit Record File (CURF) from the 1988-89 Household Expenditure Survey (HES). It provides statistics on the expenditure, income and other characteristics of households resident in private dwellings in Australia. Data from the Fiscal Incidence Study, which imputes the incidence of government benefits and taxes on households, are also included.
The file is available on CD-ROM and is also accessible through the Remote Access Data Laboratory. Users are able to tabulate, manipulate and analyse data to their individual specifications. Steps to confidentialise the dataset are taken to ensure integrity of data, optimise its content and maintain confidentiality of respondents. They include removing any information that might uniquely identify an individual, reducing the level of detail for some items and collapsing some categories.
This is the second edition of the 1988-89 file. It is a re-release of the previous edition, with the addition of the variable STATE.
