Census Test questions and answers
What do I need to do if I live in one of these areas?
If you are in the test area a Census Collector will soon be delivering forms which will allow you to participate. You will have the option of filling in the paper test form or completing it online via the test eCensus.
It's not compulsory to participate in the test, but by taking part you will help us get next year's national Census right, and make sure your community counts.
Why have these test areas been chosen?
- These areas have been selected because they are representative of the rest of the country, and pose certain challenges that the ABS wants to test, such as access to secured buildings and rural areas.
How will information from the test be used?
- The ABS will be using the information provided by householders to determine what works and what doesn't.
- How people respond to questions provides valuable feedback in the development of form design.
- Implementing delivery and collection procedures in the real world allows the ABS to hone its operational skills.
- If you participate, your personal information will remain confidential to the ABS and no information from the test will be released that would enable a person or household to be identified.
- All forms, computer records and images containing people's names and addresses are destroyed once statistical processing is completed.
