Record 50 Census Collectors jobs available in Bourke and surrounds

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is looking for a record 50 Census Collectors in Bourke and surrounds to help conduct the Census on 9 August 2011.

These Collectors will join an army of 8,200 in NSW who will pound the pavement to deliver and collect more than four million Census forms to NSW's 3.1 million households.

David Cameron, the District Manager for the Bourke area, understands the importance of getting an accurate Census count.

"This is my sixth Census and I keep coming back because it is such important work that gives back to our community," David Cameron says.

"The Census provides information that allows vital health, education and other services to be delivered to remote and rural areas."

With strong community roots including his position as the NSW President of the Isolated Children's Parents Association and a long history working on election polling places, David is keen for quality local applicants.

"I'm really looking for good local Census Collectors who know their area and want to serve their community while making some extra cash," David Cameron adds.

"These flexible Collector jobs are ideal for students, semi retirees and part-time workers."

Census Collectors will receive between $1,300 and $2,800 for the casual position and will be employed from 1 July until 8 September 2011.

Applications are open from 9 April until 5 May. Apply online at www.abs.gov.au/census or call 1800 420 182.
