Census jobs – Shedding some light on cyclone-ravaged Far North Queensland

Would you like a part time job that helps to re-build Far North Queensland after Cyclone Yasi? If the answer is yes, then the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has a Census job for you.

In the region, there are over 80 Area Supervisor jobs available right now.

Across Queensland, more than 700 Area Supervisors are needed to ensure that Australia is accurately counted on Census night, Tuesday 9 August, 2011.

With Queensland facing a monumental clean-up, more than ever, Area Supervisors are vital to the success of the Census. It helps provide important information to decision makers and disaster effected communities to help plan for the future.

Queensland’s Census Director, Sally Pritchard says Census jobs are available in all cyclone and flood affected areas of the sunshine state.

“With Far North Queensland cleaning up after Cyclone Yasi, and more than 75 per cent of the state flood-affected, the ABS understands that so many Queenslanders are struggling to rebuild their properties, and lives,” Ms Pritchard says.

“These Census Area Supervisor positions are perfect for people who want to help their neighbours, friends and communities recover from these disasters. Census jobs will make a real and positive contribution to rebuilding flood ravaged and cyclone hit towns and regions,” Ms Pritchard added.

Area Supervisors will receive between $4,300 and $7,500 for the part-time position and will be employed from 18 April until 7 October.

Make sure you apply now.
