WA Census Collectors – will you be one?
Western Australia’s largest ever peace time job drive has begun.
Across the state the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is recruiting 3,000 Census Collectors to help conduct the Census of Population and Housing on 9 August 2011.
Western Australia Census Director, Mike Scott, says Collectors are the real backbone of the Census. They are the field force that door knock every single household to collect critical Census information.
“It’s an important job. Census data is used to determine GST revenue returned to Western Australia and funding to communities for services such as hospitals, schools, libraries, public transport and roads,” Mr Scott says.
Mr Scott says Census data has enormous benefits for every town and every community in Western Australia. Being a Collector is a fantastic opportunity to help your neighbourhood while earning some extra money.
“A bonus for Collectors this year is that we’re expecting 30 per cent of households to submit their Census information online using the eCensus. This means Collectors will not have to return to collect their forms,” Mr Scott adds.
Census Collectors will receive between $1,300 and $2,800 for the casual position and will be employed from 1 July until 8 September.
Apply online from Saturday, 9 April at www.abs.gov.au/census
