Census Area Supervisors - four job opportunities in Coober Pedy

Would you like to earn up to $9,000 in a part-time job that helps everyone in Australia?

If the answer is yes, then the Australian Bureau of Statistics has a Census job for you.

In every corner of Australia, 3,500 Supervisors are needed to help oversee the distribution and collection of approximately 14.2 million Census forms to Australia’s 9.8 million households for the 2011 Census on Tuesday 9 August.

South Australia needs approximately 300 Supervisors, including four people to make up the Remote Area Mobile Team which operates out of Coober Pedy, and covers Marla and Oodnadatta.

Census spokesperson for South Australia, Mike McGrath, says "Supervisors are crucial to the success of the Census to ensure everyone in South Australia is accurately counted.

"Area Supervisors make an enormous difference to the quality and accuracy of the data that we produce from the Census by managing Collectors," Mr McGrath says.

"The data we collect affects the allocation of funding to local councils and the services they provide."

"It is important we also receive applications from people with diverse ethnic or Indigenous backgrounds to help the Census reach every community in South Australia."

To apply, or for more information call Greg McCulloch or Clare Miller, (08) 8237 7582.

Applicant information kits are also available from the Coober Pedy Council Office.
