| Susan Linacre is the Deputy Australian Statistician heading the Social Statistics Group. She has responsibility for a comprehensive program of household surveys and data collections producing statistics in the areas of health and disability, family and community, indigenous, housing, education and training, income, recreation, and crime and justice. The Social Statistics Group also produces two of the ABS's flagship publications - 'Australian Social Trends' and 'Measures of Australia's Progress'.
Susan has a first class honours degree in statistics, as well as an economics degree from the ANU. She joined the ABS as a methodologist, rising over the years to be First Assistant Statistician of the Methodology Division. She spent just over two years in the UK heading up a new directorate within the Office for National Statistics responsible for Methodology, Statistical Infrastructure and IT. On returning to Australia she took up the post of Deputy Australian Statistician with responsibility for Social Statistics.
