Don't leave your completed Census form outside

12 August 2011 | NSW/116

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is reminding all households not to leave their completed Census forms outside for collection.

New South Wales' 8,200 Collectors have begun the massive task of collecting completed Census forms from every household across the state.

NSW Census Director Mark Harding says households need to take precautions to protect their privacy.

“If you chose to fill out a paper form on Census night, please have it ready for collection from today and hand it to your Census Collector in person when they come to collect your form.”

“Your Census form contains personal, confidential information. You would never leave your bank details unattended on your front step, so please don’t leave your completed Census form outside,” Mr Harding says.

ABS Census Collectors collecting completed Census forms can be recognised by their visible official photo identification and bright yellow satchels.

"Our Census Collectors will be out collecting Census forms from now until the end of August.

"Census Collectors will not return to households who completed their Census form online using eCensus," Mr Harding adds.

"If you haven’t already completed your form, remember it is compulsory, so join the rest of Australia and shed some light on who we are."

If you haven’t received a Census form or need an eCensus Number you can request one at www.abs.gov.au/census.
