Thank you for shedding some light on Census night10 August 2011 | NSW/115The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) would like to thank the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) for shedding some light last night and participating in this year's Census. ACT Census Head Stephen Collett says it’s not too late for people to submit their forms and is encouraging everyone to do so online at census.gov.au "If you haven't completed your Census form yet, then it's not too late for you and your family to be counted. You just need to remember to answer questions about what you were doing and where you were staying on Tuesday 9 August," Mr Collett says. "The eCensus is open until 5 September and Census Collectors will be collecting completed forms until the end of August.” Last night more than 51,000 ACT households completed the Census online using the eCensus option. ACT Regional Director (ABS) Stephen Collett says that at its peak more than 100 eCensus forms were being submitted per second. "Currently there are more than 670,000 completed eCensus forms nationally that have not been submitted by households. If you have completed your eCensus form but not submitted it, please jump online and do so. "For those people who completed the paper Census form, Census Collectors will begin collecting completed forms from today. “If you haven’t received a Census form or need an eCensus code, you can request one online at www.abs.gov.au/census or call the Census Inquiry Service on 1300 338 776,” Mr Collett adds. The first results of the Census will be released in June 2012. The Census collects vital information about the population to help plan for services and infrastructure in all communities.
