New Census article released

3 May 2013

We are pleased to announce that the article Year 12 Achievement and Continuing Education has been added to Reflecting a Nation: Stories from the 2011 Census (cat. no. 2071.0).

The article looks at educational attainment of 20-24 year olds and their continuing involvement in further education at both university and TAFE. The Census showed that 85 per cent of 20–24 year olds had attained year 12 or an equivalent school or non-school qualification – up from 78 per cent in 2001. University attendance among this age group also increased, from 22 per cent in 2001 to 28 percent in 2011 while over the same period TAFE attendance declined from 9 per cent to 8 per cent. The article also makes comparisons across the states and territories and between men and women.
