Release of 2008-09 mining industry data
- Australian Industry, 2008-09 (cat. no. 8155.0) was released on 28 May 2010. This publication contains the results of the 2008-09 Economic Activity Survey (EAS) which is one of the main sources of Australian mining industry statistics. It presents information about the operation and financial performance of mining and other industries in the public trading and private sectors. Included are estimates for employment; income; expenses; industry value added; operating profit before tax; capital expenditure; and selected components of these aggregates and derivations.
- Note: In addition to Australian Industry, a supplementary data cube, Mining Commodities 2001-02 to 2008-09, was later attached on 15 December 2010. This data cube provides state/territory information on mineral commodity production and the value of that production, based on data provided by state and Northern Territory governments.

Cessation of publications
- Mining Indicators, Australia (cat. no. 8417.0): The final Mining Indicators publication was released on 2 June 2010. This December 2009 edition presented key performance indicators of the Australian mining industry, including income from sales, inventories, employment, exploration expenditure, lost time injuries and overseas mineral exploration expenditure. The product contained three tables; one table highlighting quarterly indicators, the other two annual indicators (split into financial and calendar years). These indicators were obtained from both ABS and non-ABS sources which are still available and listed in the footnotes below each table in the final edition.
- Mining Statistics Newsletter (cat. no. 8418.0): This newsletter was posted on the website for the last time on 10 June 2010. It reported ABS statistics covering Australian mining industry developments, summaries of the results of then recent ABS releases relating to mining, and advice on future releases. This information along with other key statistics about a range of ABS topics should now be accessed through the Topics @ a Glance portal found at the top of the ABS website Homepage.
