ABOUT THE SURVEY
Environment Indicators is a new survey. It is related to, but separate from, the Energy, Water and Environment Survey (EWES). EWES is conducted every three years, with EIS being conducted in the intervening two years. EIS data will be used to draw the EWES benchmark estimates forward for selected data items and for selected industries.
The content of EIS is an abridged version of the EWES questionnaire - specifically, data items such as electricity generation, capital expenditure, air emissions, state splits and finer level breakdowns have been removed. However, new waste questions (not asked on EWES) have been added to meet emerging stakeholder requirements.
Data will be published in Energy Account, Australia (cat. no. 4604.0), Water Account, Australia (cat. no. 4610.0), and assist in the development of a new Waste Account.
