VICTORIAN STATISTICAL ADVISORY FORUM (VSAF)
VSAF is a collaborative forum for consultation between the Victorian Government and Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). ABS seeks to encourage and inform dialogue within and between State Government agencies, maintaining a collaborative and open approach to the process. Ultimately, this supports the Victorian Office of ABS in ensuring that the Victorian Government position on strategic statistical issues is well presented in ABS operations and management processes, rather than only through the major channels of Australian Statistics Advisory Council (ASAC) and State Statistical Priorities Paper.
VSAF comprises one voting member from each Victorian Government department, selected by the Departmental Secretary, and generally drawn from the key corporate or portfolio planning/policy area. The VSAF Chair is a non-voting position appointed by the Secretary, Department of Premier and Cabinet, for three years. The Chair may come from any Department and a voting member is appointed for the Department that provides the non-voting Chair.
VSAF is currently chaired by Mary Cavar of the Department of Treasury & Finance (DTF). Dr David Johnson (DTF) is the Victorian Government's representative on the Australian Statistics Advisory Council (ASAC).
