STATISTICAL CONSULTANCY

Do you need to design a survey or form, and don't know where to start? Have you got data requiring complex statistical analysis? Our consultants have the expertise to help you clarify your objectives and plan your project effectively.

The ABS Statistical Consultancy service provides access to professional statisticians with wide ranging experience and expertise in client survey design, data analysis, and specialist knowledge in a range of statistical fields, including time series analyses and forms design and is available on a fee for service basis.

INFORMATION CONSULTANCY

The ABS Information Consultancy service can provide a wide range of ABS data tailored to meet your individual needs. Our consultants can provide reports containing tables, commentary and maps highlighting the characteristics of your target market, or customised demographic data for planning service delivery. Consultants can assist with the provision of data for the most recent period available or on a time series basis.

The ABS Information Consultancy service is available on a fee for service basis.

STATISTICAL TRAINING

The ABS provides training on a range of topics to develop skills for high quality statistical collections and statistical analysis. Our training programs are conducted by ABS staff with expertise in designing questionnaires, analysing data and managing the survey process. The courses teach practical skills by involving participants in individual and group exercises. In addition, courses can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your organisation, for example using Queensland-specific information. Statistical Training is available on a fee for service basis.

The ABS also provides regular seminars and information sessions which may focus on statistical developments, publications, trends or issues, including Census information sessions.

ABS WEBSITE TRAINING

The ABS website contains a wealth of information in its 400,000-plus web pages, 600 publication titles and over 3,000 downloadable files. To assist users to navigate, access and make better use of statistical information the ABS has introduced a new service, the Information Skills Program, to groups within the Queensland State and Local Government.

Information Skills Program delivers ABS website and topic-focussed information sessions and hands-on training to assist data users and information professionals and encourage the informed, effective and increased use of ABS statistics. The upcoming release of 2006 Census data will be the primary focus of the Information Skills Program information and training sessions.
