STATE SUPPLEMENTARY SURVEYS

This service provides state government agencies with an opportunity to gain detailed information about specific aspects of South Australian economic or social life which can assist in the formulation of policy strategies. These surveys are conducted as a supplement to the ABS Monthly Labour Force Survey.

Previous surveys include:

• 2004 Domestic Use of Water and Energy, South Australia (cat.no. 4618.4);
• 2000 Crime and Safety, South Australia (cat.no.4509.4);
• 1997 Travel to Work and Place of Education, Adelaide Statistical Division (cat.no. 9201.4); and
• 1996 Work Related Injuries and Illnesses, South Australia (cat.no.6301.4).
  
  Future supplementary surveys must be suitable for telephone interviewing and the 'Any Responsible Adult' (ARA) method of interviewing. The ARA method involves obtaining information about all the in-scope persons in a selected household from the first responsible adult with whom the interviewer makes contact (rather than speaking to each individual). This method can only be used for collecting information on topics where another member of the household is likely to be able to answer the question on behalf of others.
